Frequently Asked Questions

What if I’m on anti-depressants or other medication? Can I still see a therapist?

Absolutely! In fact, there is a body of evidence supporting that medications + therapy are more effective than medication alone. With your consent, I will speak with your GP or prescribing psychiatrist to understand your medication regimen and will provide them with updates on your progress in therapy.

What if, after I get started, I decide that therapy is not for me?

You are more than welcome to end our therapeutic engagement at any time. I can also refer you on to another clinician if you would like. It’s important to remember however that therapy can be an uncomfortable process, but it’s through this discomfort that profound change and growth can happen.

Is what I tell you confidential?

Yes, however there are important limits to this, including if I think you’re at risk of hurting yourself or someone else. The paperwork your receive prior to the first session will explain this in detail.

What if I want to continue therapy but I’ve run out of my medicare benefit?

We can absolutely continue our therapeutic engagement, you’ll just switch over to being a full fee paying client. We can discuss a discounted rate if this amount is unsustainable for you.
